A fire broke out in a Mercedes-Benz electric vehicle parked in the underground parking lot of an apartment complex in Asan, South Chungcheong Province, causing residents to evacuate in an emergency.

According to the Asan Fire Department on the 14th, at around 2:14 a.m. that day, a fire started in a Mercedes-Benz electric vehicle parked in the underground parking lot of an apartment complex in Asan, triggering the automatic fire alarm.

Upon receiving the report, the fire authorities responded by spraying water on the battery, which was sparking, and covering it with a fire suppression blanket to block the combustion.

The fire was extinguished at around 4:12 a.m., about two hours after the report.

Fortunately, there were no casualties, but residents had to evacuate urgently in the early morning, and car owners scrambled to move their vehicles parked in the underground parking lot.

The fire authorities are investigating the exact cause of the fire.
