Samcheok City, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province (Mayor Park Sang-su) will hold the ‘2024 Samcheok Daeiri Dongguri Festival’ from the 15th to the 17th in the Daeiri cave area.

The ‘2024 Samcheok Daeiri Dongguri Festival’ is held to widely promote the brand value of the Daeiri cave area (Natural Monument No. 178), where Hwanseon Cave, known as the largest limestone cave in Asia, is located, and to attract external tourists.

This festival offers an opportunity to appreciate the mysterious cave area created by water and time. To add to visitors’ enjoyment, there will be attractions such as samulnori, dance and singer performances, craft experience programs, and a photo zone using straw. Various entertainment options, including a food market prepared by village residents, are also available.

In particular, famous singers such as Samulnori Molgae, Cheongak, Hong Jin-young, Yoyomi, Ryu Ji-kwang, and Park Gu-yoon have prepared diverse performance stages for tourists and Samcheok citizens. Unique experience programs themed around caves, such as making consumables like hand mirrors and air fresheners, and using rice straw to create eagles and slides, will also be held.

A Samcheok City official stated, "We hope families will come to the Dongguri Festival held in the Daeiri cave area, one of Samcheok’s representative tourist destinations, and create memorable experiences."
