Among the Citizen Heroes, plaques and prize money were awarded to one person who died and one person who was injured in the line of duty, as well as 15 active participants. This includes the late Kwak Hangil, who died after being hit by a 16-ton truck while rescuing the driver of a 4-ton cargo truck that had overturned after hitting a highway guardrail on the Gyeongbu Expressway in Cheonan, Chungnam, in January; and Lee Heeseong, who prevented a traffic accident by climbing onto a runaway truck with failed brakes in April, stepping on the brake to stop the vehicle, and sustaining a fractured ankle in the process.

Al Hizaji, CEO of S-Oil, said, "Citizens who have demonstrated a spirit of sacrifice for neighbors in danger are the true heroes of our society," adding, "Like these hidden heroes, S-Oil will also strive to be a reliable guardian you can trust."

Since 2008, S-Oil has discovered a total of 325 Citizen Heroes over 17 years, awarding approximately 2.4 billion KRW in prize money and supporting those who have shown courageous civic spirit by saving neighbors in dangerous situations.
