Gyeonggi-do Joint Crackdown on Illegal Fishing Activities in Autumn... 6 Cases Detected

Gyeonggi Province has caught six cases of illegal fishing activities through joint crackdowns during the autumn season.


Gyeonggi Province announced on the 14th that it conducted joint crackdowns with the Coast Guard and city/county authorities from October 28 to November 7 on illegal fishing activities in the coastal areas of Hwaseong and Ansan and the fishing control zones of Sihwa Lake during the peak fishing season, uncovering six illegal acts, including five violations of fishing boat compliance and one violation of fishing control zones.

Gyeonggi Province will take administrative actions and impose fines according to the "Fishing Management and Promotion Act" for the detected cases.


Kim Bong-hyun, Director of the Marine Fisheries Division of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "With the recent surge in the fishing population and increased demand for outdoor activities, preventing safety accidents in advance is crucial," adding, "We will continue to thoroughly crack down on and guide illegal fishing activities to establish a sound fishing culture and protect marine resources."


This year, Gyeonggi Province has conducted crackdowns on illegal activities in five marine and fisheries sectors, including marine and inland water fisheries, fishing activities, and water leisure, uncovering a total of 54 illegal cases.
