Russia fired missiles targeting the opponent's capital just as it was intensifying its recapture operations alongside North Korean troops in Kursk. Andriy Yermak, head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, mentioned Russian President Vladimir Putin on Telegram that day, saying, "Putin is currently launching missile attacks on Kyiv."
The Ukrainian military stated that Russia launched cruise and ballistic missiles toward Kyiv in addition to drones. The scale of the Russian airstrikes and the specific damage caused by the attacks have not yet been disclosed.
Serhiy Popko, head of the Kyiv Military Administration, reported that the military destroyed cruise and ballistic missiles as well as up to 12 drones that day. This marks the first missile attack on Kyiv by Russia in 73 days since August 26.
