Seoron Kim Returns with Movie 'Guitar Man'

Actress Kim Sae-ron (24), who halted all activities following a drunk driving accident, is set to return to film, and the background of the male lead co-starring with her is drawing attention.

On the 13th, Xports News reported that Kim Sae-ron is making a comeback with the movie 'Guitarman' in collaboration with Lee Seon-jeong, CEO of Seongwon Pharmaceutical. Lee Seon-jeong is not only starring as the male lead in this film but is also responsible for investment, directing, and writing, composing, and singing the movie's OST. Last month, Lee and Kim were spotted filming near Tapgol Park in Jongno-gu, Seoul.

The movie 'Guitarman' tells the story of a genius guitarist who joins an underground band called Volcano. Initially, director Shin Jae-ho, known for directing 'My Love Ssagaji,' 'Avenger,' 'Duel,' and 'Extraterritorial Rights,' was attached to the project but reportedly left during filming. The production started on the 14th of last month and is scheduled for release in the first half of next year.

This news has also brought attention to Lee Seon-jeong's unique background. Lee is a businessman and musician who founded Seongwon Pharmaceutical, a company specializing in oral care products such as toothpaste. In 2009, he formed the 'Lee Seon-jeong Band' and has been active as the vocalist and guitarist ever since. Recently, the Lee Seon-jeong Band's Instagram account shared photos from the filming of 'Guitarman.'

Meanwhile, in May 2022, Kim Sae-ron was involved in an accident in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, where she drove under the influence, crashing into street trees and a transformer before fleeing the scene. The accident caused a power outage lasting over four hours in the Apgujeong-dong and Sinsa-dong areas, resulting in damages such as local merchants being unable to process card payments.

Kim refused a breathalyzer test at the time and requested a blood test, which revealed a blood alcohol concentration of 0.2%, well above the license cancellation threshold of 0.08%. She was subsequently prosecuted for violating the Road Traffic Act and was fined 20 million won in the first trial last April. She issued a public apology stating, "I should have acted more cautiously and responsibly, but I failed to do so. I sincerely apologize," and suspended all activities.

As a result of this incident, much of her screen time in the Netflix series 'Hounds' was edited out. Earlier this year, she attempted a comeback through the play 'Dongchimi,' but faced criticism over the short period of self-reflection and voluntarily withdrew amid public backlash.
