The completion ceremony was held successfully with about 200 attendees, including Lee Dong-hwan, Mayor of Goyang Special City, National Assembly members Kim Seong-hoe and Lee Ki-heon, Kim Un-nam, Chairperson of Goyang City Council, city council members, the Urban Policy Officer from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the head of HUG headquarters, and local residents.
The Innovation District is a large-scale complex space with three basement floors and 25 above-ground floors, covering a total floor area of 99,837㎡. It consists of 218 residential units (100 for sale, 118 for rent), as well as office and commercial facilities.
Located in the center of the Wondang area, the Innovation District is expected to become a multipurpose landmark blending residential, office, and commercial functions, bringing significant changes to the local community.
In particular, from the third basement floor to the seventh floor, 738 parking spaces, including public parking lots, have been provided, which is expected to solve the parking shortage problem of the existing transfer parking lot. The parking space, more than doubled compared to the previous approximately 290 spaces, is anticipated to greatly enhance the convenience of residents and visitors.
Additionally, the Innovation District will house the Korean branch of the Luxembourg National Health Institute. This is expected to strengthen the research infrastructure in the region and promote the influx of advanced research personnel, serving as an important opportunity for Goyang City to establish itself as a global hub for health research.
Lee Dong-hwan, Mayor of Goyang Special City, stated, “The Goyang Seongsa Innovation District is part of the key projects of the 8th elected administration aimed at preventing the decline of the old downtown Wondang area and creating sustainable growth momentum.” He added, “It will become a representative case of urban regeneration that brings positive changes to citizens’ lives and the local economy.”
