Pocheon-si, Sin-eup-dong Village Management Social Cooperative Approved for Establishment by Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport

Pocheon City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Young-hyun) announced on the 13th that the 'Sineup-dong Village Management Social Cooperative,' developed through the Sineup-dong Urban Regeneration New Deal Project, has received final establishment approval from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

The Sineup-dong Village Management Social Cooperative is a resident self-help organization and a social economy organization that values public interest, responsible for maintaining and managing the living infrastructure created through the urban regeneration project and providing necessary goods and services to residents.

The cooperative members have been steadily preparing for its establishment since last year by receiving capacity-building education, establishment training, and consulting. After holding the inaugural general meeting in July this year, they applied for establishment approval from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and received the final approval.

The Sineup-dong Village Management Social Cooperative will promote ▲ operation and management of base facilities, environmental improvement projects such as home repairs ▲ general sales business including local specialties and secondhand (recycled) goods ▲ experience and education service projects ▲ performance and cultural arts-related projects.

Lee Jun-mo, chairman of the cooperative, said, “I would like to express my gratitude to the cooperative members and Pocheon City officials who worked together until the final establishment approval,” adding, “With this establishment approval as an opportunity, the Sineup-dong Village Management Social Cooperative will strive to create jobs for residents, enhance welfare, and do its best for the development and continuous management of the village.”
