The Organic Agricultural Materials Support Project is designed to implement sustainable agriculture by alleviating the financial burden on farmers through support for the purchase of organic agricultural materials and green manure crop seeds for eco-friendly farmers, thereby encouraging the reduction of pesticide and chemical fertilizer use.
The support targets agricultural management entities registered with agricultural management information, specifically farmland where △ green manure crops are to be cultivated △ farmland registered as an agricultural management entity and certified as eco-friendly (organic or pesticide-free) △ farmland wishing to receive support for soil testing and fertilization prescription consultation costs.
Support for organic agricultural materials is provided up to 1.5 to 2 million KRW per hectare (㏊), and only products announced as organic agricultural materials by the National Agricultural Products Quality Management Service can be purchased. For green manure seeds, 50% of the purchase cost for seeds such as green barley, rye, and Sudan grass is supported.
Detailed project information can be found on the Paju City Hall website. Farmers wishing to apply must bring an eco-friendly certification, agricultural management entity registration confirmation, eco-friendly agricultural product mandatory fund payment confirmation, and soil test results and fertilizer prescription issued by the Agricultural Technology Center between 2023 and 2024. If there are two or more farmlands in the eup/myeon area, the documents should be submitted in person to the administrative welfare center of the eup/myeon where the largest farmland is located or to the Agricultural Policy Division of the Agricultural Technology Center.
Lee Tae-sung, head of the Agricultural Policy Division, said, "We hope for active participation from many farmers this year as well, and we will strive to reduce the financial burden of eco-friendly agricultural management and encourage the reduction of pesticide and chemical fertilizer use to establish nature-friendly farming methods in Paju City."
