On the 13th, the Mobile Patrol Unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced that they had arrested a man in his 50s, Mr. A, for violating trademark laws after operating a counterfeit factory of a famous sports brand. Mr. A is accused of running a counterfeit factory of a famous sports brand in Gangdong-gu, Seoul, manufacturing fake labels and clothing.


On the 15th of last month, the police began an investigation after receiving a tip from local residents about a factory producing counterfeit clothing while patrolling the Cheonho-dong area in Gangdong-gu, Seoul.


On the 8th of this month, through an authorized verification company designated by the headquarters, it was confirmed that the clothing produced at the factory was counterfeit, and a raid was conducted. On the day of the raid, it was reported that Mr. A and nine workers were working at the factory.


The police handed Mr. A over to the Intelligence Team of the Gangdong Police Station and seized counterfeit labels numbering 9,425, 1,805 semi-finished pants, and 318 finished pants, worth approximately 95 million KRW. The police plan to conduct witness investigations on the nine workers in the future.


A police official stated, "We will play the role of problem solvers in the community through visible foot patrols and contact with residents," adding, "We plan to strengthen the deployment of mobile patrol units in crime-prone areas to prevent crimes going forward."
