‘Aimusly’ Secures Seed Investment from FuturePlay and TheVentures

Automation Solutions for Semiconductor Manufacturing Processes

Aimrsly, developing the semiconductor manufacturing process automation solution ‘AMIE,’ announced on the 13th that it has completed seed (early-stage) investment from FuturePlay and TheVentures. The investment amount was not disclosed.

Aimrsly is a startup launched in May through SK Hynix’s in-house venture program, HiGarage. Its goal is to precisely manage the manufacturing process like autonomous driving through process control (APC) technology, a core technology in semiconductor manufacturing. Seungcheon Choi, CEO of Aimrsly, majored in CMP process modeling, one of the semiconductor manufacturing processes, at UC Berkeley in the United States, and led process control and manufacturing innovation at global manufacturing companies such as Hanwha, Corning, and SK Hynix.

‘AMIE’ finely adjusts the recipes of semiconductor manufacturing equipment on a wafer-by-wafer basis to maintain consistent quality, enabling up to a 10% yield improvement depending on the customer. Since a 1% improvement in semiconductor yield generates an economic effect worth hundreds of billions of won, ‘AMIE’ is expected to contribute to manufacturers’ cost reduction and quality improvement. In particular, it supports even new engineers to achieve expert-level performance, alleviating labor shortages and maximizing manufacturing efficiency.

Aram Jeon, Senior Investment Manager at FuturePlay, said, “Just as robotics and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies replace physical labor, the shortage of process engineers who can effectively operate factories and equipment will become apparent within the next 10 years,” adding, “A specialized team like Aimrsly, equipped with essential process engineering and data analysis capabilities rather than simple monitoring, will solve this problem.”

Cheolwoo Kim, CEO of TheVentures, said, “Since Korea has sufficient global competitiveness in the semiconductor industry, we expect great opportunities for industrial AI startups,” and added, “In fact, a major industrial transformation using AI and robotics is occurring in various manufacturing sectors. We look forward to Aimrsly’s future potential, which possesses expertise in data, AI, and internal processes.”

CEO Seungcheon Choi stated, “As global semiconductor hegemony competition intensifies, the demand for process engineers exceeds supply,” and said, “Through this seed investment, we will develop industrial AI that achieves true fab automation based on a deep understanding of semiconductor mass production processes.” Meanwhile, Aimrsly plans to conduct introduction tests with domestic semiconductor manufacturers after completing the prototype development of ‘AMIE.’
