Yeulmaru and Jangdo Contribute to Community Development Through Art

GS Caltex announced on the 13th that it received the Grand Prize, the Presidential Citation, at the 2024 Mecenat Awards ceremony held at the Westin Chosun Hotel in Jung-gu, Seoul.
Hosted by the Korea Mecenat Association and sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Mecenat Awards have been presented annually since 1999 to domestic companies dedicated to the development of the cultural and arts sectors.
GS Caltex was recognized for its continuous efforts to contribute to regional community development through the arts, including the establishment of 'GS Caltex Yeulmaru' in 2012 and the creation of the new art island 'Jangdo' in 2019, earning the Presidential Citation.
Since its opening, GS Caltex Yeulmaru has attracted approximately 1.33 million citizens and visitors through performances, exhibitions, and educational programs. Last year, it was the only venue in Jeollanam-do selected for the 'Korea Unique Venue (KUV) 52' by the Korea Tourism Organization, hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. The art island Jangdo has also welcomed over 1.75 million citizens and tourists to date.
