The Yeoncheon Cultural Center is hosting the "31 in Yeoncheon" event, a pet theme park success celebration and festival, jointly organized with the Gyeonggi-do Cultural Center Association on the 9th at the underside of Buksam Bridge in Samgeori, Gunnam-myeon. Provided by Yeoncheon County
The event was attended by about 1,200 people, including special guests such as Kim Deok-hyun, Yeoncheon County Governor, Kim Mi-kyung, Chairperson of Yeoncheon County Council, Park Young-cheol, Vice Chairperson, as well as Kim Yong-gyu, President of the Gyeonggi-do Cultural Center Federation, heads of cultural centers from 31 local governments in Gyeonggi-do, cultural families, Yeoncheon residents, and members of the cultural center.
Most attendees came as families and enjoyed nostalgic activities such as making Jwibulnori (traditional Korean fire play), spinning fire cans, operating the Bulmeong Zone (fire watching area), taking photos at the Silver Grass Flower photo zone, and roasting sweet potatoes and Garaetteok (Korean rice cakes). The final highlight was the creation of 31 Daljip (traditional moon houses) representing the 31 Gyeonggi-do cultural centers (ranging from 3.5m to 6m in height) and 32 Daljip symbolizing the Gyeonggi-do Cultural Center Federation, producing a spectacular fire pillar reaching 15 meters high.
The event was sponsored by Gyeonggi Province and jointly hosted by the Gyeonggi-do Cultural Center Federation and Yeoncheon Cultural Center. Starting at 2 p.m., performances by various clubs of the Yeoncheon Cultural Center, Seokcheon Nonggi Godumari Preservation Society from Bucheon, Paju Folklore Cultural Center, and the Amisan Woolly Samulban of Yeoncheon Cultural Center featured Jisinbalgi (a traditional Korean ritual to drive away evil spirits) and Madangnori (traditional Korean courtyard play), creating a lively atmosphere. Even as the Daljip burned brilliantly, the event concluded with a joyful performance by the Samulban from Bucheon.
Director Lee Jun-yong of the Cultural Center said, “The performance ground, which was once overgrown with weeds and barren, was filled with a huge crowd, proving that many people are wishing and hoping for the success of the Pet Theme Park.”
