Namyangju City Enhances Citizen Trust by Replacing Aging Water Pipes

By 2030, a total of 24 billion KRW will be invested
Goal to replace 16.8 km of aging water pipes in total length

Namyangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Joo Gwang-deok) announced on the 12th that it is currently carrying out a project to replace aging water pipes by investing a total of 2.3 billion KRW to provide citizens with clear and clean tap water stably and to increase the water retention rate.

Namyangju City has completed the replacement of defective pipelines at five locations (2.7 km), including 751 Changhyeon-ri, Hwado-eup, and 521-1 Jinbeol-ri, Jinjeop-eup.


Additionally, the city is currently conducting defective pipeline replacement work at two locations (0.6 km), including 586-5 Mukhyun-ri, Hwado-eup, and 758 Sambong-ri, Joan-myeon, and plans to complete the work by the end of this year.


Once this water pipe replacement project is completed, it is expected that 1,468 households and 4,404 residents will benefit directly and indirectly.


The city also plans to invest 2.3 billion KRW in 2025 to replace pipes at three locations over approximately 2.4 km: 361-18 Changhyeon-ri, Hwado-eup; 576-94 Gwangjeon-ri, Byeollae-myeon; and 504-1 Mukhyun-ri, Hwado-eup. Through this, the city aims to replace aging water pipes totaling 16.8 km in length by 2030 with a total investment of 24 billion KRW.


A Namyangju City official stated, “To minimize inconvenience to residents caused by the construction, we will thoroughly implement prior procedures such as water outage notifications, securing pedestrian paths, and establishing traffic measures to enhance citizens’ trust in water administration. We will also contribute to stable tap water supply and expansion of water supply areas by reducing financial losses caused by leaks.”
