Citizen Welfare Mentors are autonomous citizen monitoring groups operating based on local networks. Through various promotional activities, they raise awareness that fraudulent claims are illegal acts and contribute to enhancing the efficiency of welfare finances by proactively preventing such fraud.
At this meeting, key improvements to the 2025 National Basic Livelihood Security System were introduced, and practical improvement measures for discovering welfare blind spots and preventing fraudulent claims were discussed.
The Citizen Welfare Mentors reaffirmed the importance of realizing fair welfare support by sharing cases of inappropriate claims and exchanged opinions on welfare policies.
A Citizen Welfare Mentor who attended the meeting said, “This meeting served as an opportunity to strengthen the discovery of welfare blind spots and to build a cooperative system for preventing fraudulent claims. I will work hard for the marginalized vulnerable groups by referring to the key improvements of the 2025 National Basic Livelihood Security System.”
Choi Jae-woong, Director of the Welfare Bureau, stated, “Field-centered activities of Citizen Welfare Mentors are important to provide necessary support to citizens in welfare blind spots and to prevent fraudulent claims. We will strive to ensure that welfare benefits are fairly provided to those who truly need them.”
Meanwhile, Citizen Welfare Mentors not only engage in activities to prevent fraudulent claims but also discover neighbors in welfare blind spots and connect them to appropriate welfare services, working to realize fair welfare support.
