Seongdong-gu Achieves Three Consecutive Years as an Excellent Autonomous District in the 'Korea Safety Great Transition Intensive Safety Inspection'

Seongdong-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jeong Won-oh) has been selected as an excellent autonomous district for three consecutive years in the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s evaluation of the ‘2024 Korea Safety Grand Transition Intensive Safety Inspection.’

The ‘Korea Safety Grand Transition Intensive Safety Inspection’ is a nationwide disaster prevention policy led by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety. Since 2015, it has been implemented to eliminate risk factors and raise public safety awareness through safety inspections involving central government agencies, local governments, and citizens.

Regarding the intensive safety inspection conducted from April 22 to June 21, the evaluation focused on indicators such as the effectiveness of safety inspections, dissemination performance, appropriateness of feedback, efforts in result disclosure and history management, and policy contribution.

Seongdong-gu received high scores for promoting effective inspections by spreading a culture of voluntary inspections through the resident inspection request system, enhancing inspection precision using advanced equipment, holding meetings and on-site inspections led by the deputy mayor, and securing follow-up action implementation efforts, demonstrating particular dedication to solidifying the intensive safety inspection.

In particular, this year, the district conducted joint safety inspections by field with private experts on a total of 109 facilities. For facilities where issues were found, parts that could be corrected on-site were immediately addressed, and for those with serious defects, budgets were secured for repairs and reinforcements, with continuous efforts planned.

Jeong Won-oh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, said, “Being selected as an excellent autonomous district for three consecutive years in the ‘Safety Grand Transition Intensive Safety Inspection’ evaluation is the result of everyone working together to create an environment where residents can live with peace of mind.” He added, “We will continue to build a proactive disaster prevention system to make Seongdong a ‘365-day safe city’ where all residents are safe.”
