The Gyeonggi-do Regional Balanced Development Project is a program that selects six cities and counties within Gyeonggi Province with slower development and supports provincial funds for infrastructure construction, tourism industry promotion, and other efforts to achieve balanced regional development.

To be selected for the 3rd Project, the city prepared five project proposals through demand surveys, field investigations, and internal reviews starting in February this year. As a result of the review by the “Gyeonggi-do Regional Balanced Development Committee” held in October, a total of four projects with 40 billion KRW in provincial funds were secured.

Under the 3rd Project, Yeoju City plans to promote a total of four projects: one in the living SOC sector, two in the road sector, and one in the tourism sector. In the living SOC sector, the project to expand the Bondu Reservoir aims to supply tap water more stably by expanding the Bondu Reservoir that supplies tap water to areas such as Ganam-eup and Yeonla-dong.

For the two road sector projects, the “Yeoju Station Area Access Road Construction Project” intends to open an east-west connecting road linking Gyodong and Wolsong-dong, where traffic volume is increasing due to the development of the Yeoju Station area. Additionally, the “Yeoju Elementary School Intersection to Haksowon Road Expansion and Paving Project” will be promoted to alleviate bottlenecks caused by road construction and expansion near the section from Ohak Elementary School intersection to Haksowon.

As a tourism sector project, the “Gangcheon Island and Gulaam-ri Parking Environment Improvement Project” will create parking lots and convenience facilities on Gangcheon Island, one of Yeoju’s representative tourist destinations, to enhance visitor convenience and create a pleasant tourism environment.

Meanwhile, the city plans to further develop and enhance Yeoju’s tourism resources by securing performance-based project funds that provide additional support based on the evaluation of the 3rd Project’s implementation results.
