Chungnam Technopark Wins Prime Minister's Award at Korea Gas Safety Awards

Chungnam Technopark announced on the 12th that it received the Prime Minister's Commendation at the 31st Korea Gas Safety Awards ceremony held at Conrad Hotel in Yeouido, Seoul.

The Korea Gas Safety Awards is the largest event in the gas safety sector, recognizing individuals and organizations who have contributed to public safety and national economic development.

Chungnam Technopark was recognized for its contribution to securing the safety of hydrogen-related components, including the establishment and accident-free operation of hydrogen charging stations, and minimizing losses by improving the measurement method for incoming hydrogen gas volume.

Since opening the Naepo Hydrogen Charging Station in 2015, Chungnam Technopark has achieved 53,654 hydrogen electric vehicle charging supports and completed 155,188kg of hydrogen charging through thorough safety management and technological innovation. It also achieved technical results such as installing flow meters to reduce hydrogen gas supply losses from 20% to 5%.

Additionally, by operating the FCEV Parts Testing and Evaluation Center, it supported environmental and durability tests for hydrogen electric vehicle and hydrogen commercial vehicle parts, and conducted various tests to guarantee the safety of hydrogen gas, helping companies ensure that their hydrogen-related products can be operated safely in real-world environments.

Director Seo Gyuseok said, “This Prime Minister’s Commendation is the result of Chungnam Technopark’s efforts in the safe operation and technological innovation of hydrogen charging stations,” and added, “We will continue to secure the safety of various hydrogen-related infrastructure, including the Naepo Hydrogen Charging Station, and work to establish a regional hydrogen industry ecosystem to further vitalize the hydrogen economy in Chungnam.”
