Singer and actor Lee Seung-gi drew a line regarding the controversy related to his spouse Lee Da-in's family, stating that they are an "independent household."
On the 12th, Lee Seung-gi attended the production report meeting for the film 'Big Family' held at Lotte Cinema near Konkuk University Station in Seoul. Toward the end of the event, he was asked by reporters about recent personal issues that had surfaced. In response, Lee Seung-gi said, "'Big Family' is a precious film as it is a family human drama released domestically after a long time," and added, "Since the question concerns a private matter, I am cautious about answering it sincerely."
He continued, "It seems that some of my past remarks caused misunderstandings like 'the family is not at fault,' as you asked," and said, "What I have consistently said is that matters related to my in-laws are their own, and after marriage, both my wife (Lee Da-in) and I have established independent households separate from our respective families." He added, "I think it would be inappropriate to say more about this matter," and "If I have caused any misunderstandings, I believe I should act more carefully."

Previously, Lee Seung-gi's father-in-law, Mr. Lee, who is also the husband of actress Kyeon Mi-ri, was accused of manipulating stock prices through false disclosures. Mr. Lee, who was a director of a KOSDAQ-listed company A, was found to have artificially inflated stock prices by making false public announcements about favorable events such as Kyeon Mi-ri and Chinese capital participating in the company's paid-in capital increase from November 2014 to February 2016. He was prosecuted for profiting approximately 2.37 billion KRW by selling shares obtained through the capital increase but was acquitted. Later, Lee Seung-gi married actress Lee Da-in, the second daughter of Kyeon Mi-ri, in April last year, and welcomed their first daughter in February this year.
However, in June, the Supreme Court overturned the original ruling against Mr. Lee and sent the case back to the Seoul High Court with a guilty verdict in mind. The court ruled that some of the disclosures constituted "fraudulent acts" that could cause losses to investors. At that time, Lee Seung-gi's agency, Big Planet Made Entertainment, stated, "As an artist celebrating his 20th debut anniversary, we earnestly ask that the family not be disturbed so that Lee Seung-gi can focus on getting closer to his fans." They also added, "Lee Seung-gi is now fulfilling his responsibilities as the head of a household, a husband, a father, and a son-in-law. This matter concerns events before Lee Seung-gi's marriage and is an issue for the families to resolve."
