Two Gyeonggi Northern Local Roads, 'Munsan~Naepo' and 'Eunhyeon~Bongam', to Open This Month

Two local roads in the northern Gyeonggi region were opened in November, which is expected to improve residents' quality of life and help revitalize the local economy through smooth logistics transportation.

According to Gyeonggi Province on the 12th, the local road No. 359 Munsan~Naepo (2) road expansion project (1.16km), connecting Munsan-ri and Naepo-ri in Munsan-eup, Paju City, has been completed, expanding the existing two lanes to four lanes, and officially opened on the same day.

The local road No. 359 Munsan~Naepo (2) section is a follow-up section to Munsan~Naepo (1), which opened in June 2023.

Munsan~Naepo (1) is a 0.82km road connecting Munsan-ri to Naepo-ri, and with the opening of the Munsan~Naepo (2) section, the entire 1.98km Munsan~Naepo section has been completed.

Gyeonggi Province expects that the opening of the Munsan~Naepo section will reduce logistics travel time and costs for 4.5 million square meters of industrial facilities such as Paju LCD, Wollong, Seonyu, and Dangdong industrial complexes, as well as shorten weekday commuting times for employees of these industrial complexes.

Additionally, residents living in Munsan-eup will have easier access to the Seoul~Munsan Expressway and Jayuro, and traffic congestion in nearby areas is expected to improve significantly.

The local road No. 375 Eunhyeon~Bongam road expansion project (3.88km), connecting Seonam-ri and Bongam-ri in Eunhyeon-myeon, Yangju City, will also complete lane improvement to two lanes and officially open on the 22nd.

The Eunhyeon~Bongam section has narrow and winding roads, posing a high risk of traffic accidents, and is a military operation area with frequent military vehicle traffic.

To prevent major accidents, Gyeonggi Province installed sidewalks in the section and improved the winding roads into straight roads.

The opening of these two local road routes was completed on schedule with an investment of 24.7 billion KRW following the announcement of the ‘Northern Gyeonggi Grand Development Vision’ by Gyeonggi Province in September last year.

Gyeonggi Province expects that the opening of these roads will greatly improve the transportation conditions and inconveniences of residents in Paju City, Yeoncheon County, Yangju City, and other northwestern Gyeonggi areas, contributing significantly to reducing logistics costs through shortened travel times and the development of the northwestern Gyeonggi region.
