Jeong Myeong-geun, Mayor of Hwaseong, Encourages Hwaseong City Corporation Table Tennis Players Yerin Yeo and Yerim Heo

Participation in the ITTF World Junior Championships

Jeong Myeong-geun, Mayor of Hwaseong City, Gyeonggi Province, invited and encouraged Yu Ye-rin and Heo Ye-rim, players of the Hwaseong Urban Corporation Youth Table Tennis Team, who are participating in the '2024 International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) World Junior Championships,' at his office in the city hall on the 11th.

This tournament, organized by the ITTF, will be held from the 22nd to the 29th in Helsingborg, Sweden. Yu Ye-rin will compete in the U19 category, and Heo Ye-rim will compete in the U15 category. Both players are ranked 4th in their respective divisions. Previously, Yu Ye-rin won a silver medal in the girls' singles U15 category at last year's World Junior Championships, and Heo Ye-rim won the U15 singles title at the Star Contender tournament last month.

Mayor Jeong encouraged them, saying, "I hope the youth athletes of Hwaseong City will represent South Korea and fully demonstrate the skills they have improved through their efforts on the world stage."

Meanwhile, since establishing the youth table tennis team on August 18 last year, Hwaseong Urban Corporation has been providing systematic support based on a professional coaching system.
