Sale of Apples and Dried Red Peppers Grown in Yeongyang-gun, Gyeongbuk, Sister City on the 15th

Gyeonggi Hanam City (Mayor Lee Hyun-jae) announced on the 12th that it will hold an event to promote and sell agricultural specialties such as apples and dried chili peppers grown in its sister city, Yeongyang County, Gyeongbuk Province, in front of the Misa Station clock tower from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the 15th.

This agricultural specialty promotion event was organized to provide an opportunity to see high-quality agricultural products such as apples, pears, Shine Muscat grapes, dried chili peppers, red pepper powder, dried vegetables, and Good Songi mushrooms produced in Yeongyang County, a representative clean area of Korea, directly on site and purchase them at reasonable prices.

Yeongyang County is a clean area located in the inland mountainous region of the Taebaek Mountains in the northeastern part of Gyeongbuk Province. Thanks to the agricultural products being cultivated on steep farmland adjacent to dense forests, they are evaluated to have excellent taste and rich nutrients.

Citizens visiting the event site on the day will be able to see and purchase agricultural products directly on site, and also have a chance to win agricultural specialties from Yeongyang County and shopping bags through a lottery event.

Citizens who cannot visit the event site on the day can easily purchase Yeongyang County’s specialties through the online shopping mall ‘Onsim Market.’

O Do-chang, the governor of Yeongyang County, said, “We have prepared a small market to introduce precious agricultural products that were grown with the sweat and dedication of farmers to the citizens of Hanam. We hope you enjoy healthy food deliciously and visit Yeongyang County once to experience proper rest amid your busy daily life, and we will warmly welcome you.”

Lee Hyun-jae, mayor of Hanam City, said, “This event will be a win-win opportunity to provide healthy and high-quality agricultural products to Hanam citizens and support stable market expansion for Yeongyang County farmers. We will continue to expand opportunities to revitalize the local economy and provide various benefits to citizens through cooperation with Yeongyang County.”

Meanwhile, Hanam City signed a sisterhood agreement with Yeongyang County last September, focusing on creating synergy effects for the growth of the K-Culture project, promising friendly cooperation between the two cities.

The two local governments will continue to cooperate in various fields such as sharing excellent administrative policies, expanding mutual exchanges of performances and cultural heritage, operating direct transaction markets, and promoting agricultural specialties.
