Professor Choi Yo-sun of the Department of Energy Resources Engineering at Pukyong National University was honored to receive academic awards simultaneously from the Korean Society of Resources Engineering (President Jeong Myeong-chae) and the Korean Society of Rock Mechanics (President Park Chan).
Professor Choi Yo-sun was recognized for outstanding research and academic activities at the 2024 Fall Joint Resources Conference held for three days from November 6 at the High1 Grand Hotel in Gangwon Province, receiving academic awards from each society.
The Korean Society of Resources Engineering awarded Professor Choi Yo-sun in recognition of his status as the top domestic expert in the field of smart mining technology, his significant contributions to improving productivity and safety in the resource industry, and his vigorous academic activities including publishing numerous excellent papers in domestic and international journals, as well as his efforts in nurturing future scholars.
The Korean Society of Rock Mechanics awarded Professor Choi Yo-sun for his outstanding contributions to the development of rock mechanics through active research activities and excellent academic paper presentations in the field of smart mining technology, which integrates mineral resource development technology with ICT and automation technology, recognizing him as the top domestic expert in this field.
