Kang Chang-gu, Director of National Accounts at BOK, Appointed as Executive Committee Member of OECD National Accounts Meeting

The Bank of Korea announced on the 12th that Kang Chang-gu, Director of the National Accounts Division at the Economic Statistics Bureau of the Bank of Korea, has been appointed as an executive member of the OECD Working Party on National Accounts (WPNA).

Director Kang was appointed as an executive member at the 2024 OECD WPNA held in Paris, France, on the 4th (local time). The executive committee consists of six national accounts experts from OECD member countries (Canada (chair country), Korea, the United Kingdom, Spain, Belgium, and Costa Rica). Director Kang will participate in the OECD WPNA as an executive member and will be responsible for deciding various matters such as selecting national accounts-related agendas and scheduling. His term will last until 2027.


This is the third time since 2013 that an executive member from the Bank of Korea has been appointed to the WPNA.


The Bank of Korea stated, "This appointment not only reaffirms the excellence of our country's national accounts compilation capabilities, including GDP statistics, in the international community but is also expected to serve as an opportunity to actively reflect Korea's position in international discussions." It added, "We expect this to help Korea lead statistical methodologies internationally and expand exchanges with OECD member countries."
