Deployment of 'School Managers' in 80 Elementary, Middle, and High Schools in the District
Gangseo-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon) announced on the 12th that it will open school sports facilities in collaboration with the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education. The district signed a 'Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the Activation of School Sports Facility Opening' with the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education the day before.
This agreement was prepared to provide sports infrastructure to local residents in areas lacking public sports facilities and to efficiently utilize school facilities.
According to the agreement, schools will open gyms and playgrounds to local residents on weekends when there are no classes, and the district will assign one school manager to each school to manage the facilities and ensure safety.
The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education plans to conduct a public contest targeting 80 elementary, middle, and high schools in Gangseo-gu to select schools participating in the project. Selected schools will receive support for personnel managing the facility openings.
School managers will be responsible for verifying the identity of facility reservation users, controlling access of outsiders, supervising user activities and safety management to prevent accidents, and inspecting and cleaning facilities after opening hours.
District Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon said, "Through this agreement, residents can use high-quality sports facilities close to their homes," and added, "We expect active participation from many schools in the area to promote community sports and improve residents' health."
