KCC and the Seoul Architects Association announced on the 12th that, as part of the '2024 Making Cool Rooftops with Architects (Cool Roof Support Project),' they applied heat-reflective paint to the roofs and rooftops of facilities vulnerable to heatwaves, such as senior centers and daycare centers.
The Cool Roof Support Project is a social contribution activity aimed at helping to overcome summer heatwaves by applying heat-reflective paint that reflects solar heat, thereby reducing roof surface and indoor temperatures and simultaneously saving energy required for cooling. KCC provided paint and painting technology support at the work sites, while the Seoul Architects Association selected locations in need of cool roof support and deployed painting personnel, collaborating closely.

This cool roof project used KCC’s heat-reflective paint called ‘Spotan Sangdo (Energy).’ ‘Spotan Sangdo (Energy)’ is a product recognized for its functionality, having obtained the heat-reflective performance certification from the U.S. CRRC (Cool Roof Rating Council). It can be applied to various surfaces such as concrete and steel, making it suitable for a wide range of buildings including general houses, office buildings, apartments, commercial buildings, schools, as well as storage tanks, outdoor facilities, and factory roofs?from residential to commercial facilities. It has excellent weather resistance and workability, allowing even non-professionals to apply it using brushes or rollers.
A KCC official stated, “As heatwaves worsen due to global warming, the cool roof project targeting facilities and areas vulnerable to heatwaves is gaining attention. We believe it is very meaningful to collaborate with the Seoul Architects Association on this significant social contribution project. We will continue to expand the cool roof project using KCC paint with excellent heat-reflective properties and pursue ESG management through various social contribution activities linked to our business.”
