Hyundai Motor Company announced on the 12th that it has conducted the '2024 Grandmaster Certification Evaluation' to train service engineers to a global top-tier level.
The Grandmaster Certification Evaluation is an excellent engineer assessment program that Hyundai has been conducting since 2012 with the purpose of enhancing the technical skills of its service engineers.
The evaluation targets service engineers from nationwide directly-operated High-Tech Centers and Bluehands. Engineers who achieve a certain score or higher in each category are awarded the highest grade, 'Grandmaster,' within Hyundai's service technology certification program HMCP (Hyundai Master Certification Program), which consists of four levels.
HMCP, introduced in 2012, is Hyundai's proprietary technical certification system that classifies engineers into four levels based on their technical competency: Level 1-2 (Technician), Level 3 (Master), and Level 4 (Grandmaster).

This certification evaluation involved 79 engineers from directly-operated High-Tech Centers nationwide and 486 Bluehands passenger vehicle engineers. Among them, 28 engineers (20 from directly-operated High-Tech Centers and 8 from Bluehands passenger vehicles) who passed the first written exam took the second practical evaluation, which was held on the 29th and 31st of last month at Hyundai Motor’s Cheonan Global Learning Center.
In the passenger vehicle practical test, expertise was comprehensively evaluated across four categories: EV (electric vehicles), ICE (internal combustion engine)·HEV (hybrid electric vehicles), body electrical systems (communication, convenience devices, AVN), and chassis·ADAS (advanced driver assistance systems) diagnostics. As a result, five engineers were finally selected as Grandmasters.
Engineers chosen as Grandmasters receive a certificate and medal proving their qualification as top technical experts, along with a certification plaque, nameplate, and uniform patches.
A Hyundai Motor official stated, "In a situation where new technologies are being applied and sales of electrified vehicles are increasing, we will provide highly reliable service by possessing advanced diagnostic and repair expertise for electrified vehicles."
