Future mobility AI specialist Wiplo announced on the 12th that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Socar to advance vehicle inspection and management technology.
Through this agreement, the two companies will ▲conduct demonstrations to advance vehicle inspection and management technology ▲increase operational efficiency of car-sharing services through systematic and quantitative data management ▲collaborate mutually for the commercialization and business development of related technologies.
Wiplo is developing a solution that uses AI to inspect the status of mobility devices such as drones, air taxis, and electric vehicles within seconds through a non-contact method, and predicts faults and parts aging based on accumulated data. Leveraging this MOU, Wiplo plans to actively expand its business scope from developing future aerial mobility (AAM) vehicle status inspection solutions to the vehicle inspection sector.
Seok Min-jin, Chief Business Officer (CBO) of Wiplo, said, "The importance of introducing an efficient and systematic vehicle inspection system is increasing day by day in the highly competitive car-sharing market," adding, "Through collaboration with Socar and conducting demonstrations to advance our technology, we will continue research and development for the commercialization of AI technology in the vehicle inspection field."
Seo Sang-gyun, Head of Mobility Experience Group at Socar, stated, "Socar already determines repair needs by having AI analyze photos taken by customers," and added, "The significance of this cooperation with Wiplo lies in achieving efficiency by automating the process up to capturing damage photos without customer involvement."
