Goyang Special City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) announced on the 12th that it will open a bicycle path along a 7 km section from Sinpyeong IC to Isanpo IC along the Jayuro Han River.

Goyang City to Open Jayuro Hangang Riverside Bicycle Path on the 12th Goyang Special City will open a bicycle path on the 12th along the Han River from Sinyoung IC to Isanpo IC, covering approximately 7 km. Provided by Goyang Special City

This section was previously blocked by military fences, making it difficult for citizens to access, but with this maintenance, citizens can now enjoy nature more easily.

The opening of this bicycle path is part of the Han River fence removal project initiated in 2006. Goyang City removed fences in the Haengju Fortress Historical Park section in 2012, the Haengju Bridge-Gimpo Bridge section in 2017, and the Gimpo Bridge-Ilsan Bridge section in 2019. In 2023, the bicycle road was maintained, and in 2024, CCTV and security lights were installed.

Additionally, the city plans to create riverside paths along Daehwa Stream, Hallyu Stream, and Dochon Stream, connecting them to the Han River bicycle road to open a new bicycle path linking Seoul, Goyang, and Paju along the Han River from urban areas such as Ilsan Lake Park and KINTEX Waterfront Park.

Through this, it is expected to provide citizens with a better bicycle usage environment and increase accessibility to the Han River, thereby enhancing the value of the Han River area and offering citizens opportunities for eco-friendly leisure activities.

Mayor Lee Dong-hwan of Goyang Special City stated, "With the opening of this bicycle path, citizens can safely and comfortably enjoy the Han River from Haengju Bridge to Ilsan Bridge via a car-free bicycle and pedestrian-only path. I hope this bicycle path becomes a new tourist destination where people can appreciate the beautiful scenery of the Han River and the natural landscape of Janghang Wetland, registered as a Ramsar Wetland, and that it will be reborn as a route of the Goyang Peace Nuri Trail connecting Seoul to the Imjin River."

A Goyang Special City official said, "We will continue to improve the bicycle usage environment through future expansion of bicycle paths and enhancement of convenience facilities, and strive to create more convenient and pleasant bicycle paths by reflecting citizens' opinions."
