Pearl Abyss announced on the 12th that its consolidated sales for the third quarter of this year amounted to 79.5 billion KRW, down 6.4% compared to the same period last year.
Operating loss for the same period was 9.2 billion KRW, turning to a deficit compared to the same period last year. The company stated that the operating loss was due to increased advertising and promotional expenses. Net loss for the period was recorded at 7.8 billion KRW.
However, the third quarter saw overseas sales account for 80%, continuing its global performance. By platform, sales were 76% from PC, 21% from mobile, and 3% from console.
In particular, Pearl Abyss's new title, "Bulgeun Samak" (Red Desert), received attention by showcasing four bosses at the global game show "Gamescom 2024" last August. In September, a 50-minute gameplay video was also released.
Pearl Abyss plans to strengthen live services for the intellectual properties (IP) "Black Desert" and "EVE" in the upcoming fourth quarter, and will hold a demonstration event for the new title "Bulgeun Samak" at "G-Star 2024" held in Busan this month.
Jo Seok-woo, Pearl Abyss's Chief Financial Officer (CFO), said, "In 2024, we will continue to achieve results through ongoing changes in Black Desert and EVE," adding, "We will gradually increase marketing intensity for the successful launch of new IP."
