Singer Jeong Dong-won is making a comeback with a new song after 1 year and 2 months.
His agency Showplay Entertainment announced that Jeong Dong-won released a new digital single titled "Gori" on the 11th, marking his comeback. This new song comes about 1 year and 2 months after his mini-album "Sopyeomjip Vol.1," released in 2023.
"Gori" is a minor ballad adult contemporary song that fully captures Jeong Dong-won's distinctive poignant voice, sensually portraying sadness, pain, and longing. The work was crafted to highlight the emotions that intensify toward the climax, especially featuring cello and viola solo performances in the intro and outro that decorate the song’s beginning and end climaxes.
Jeong Dong-won lyrically explores the word "Gori," which holds various meanings, singing about emotional connections between people or romantic relationships in a lyrical way. The song conveys that love does not only bring happiness but also pain, illustrating that love relationships are always connected by opposing emotions as links, leaving listeners with a deep impression.
The new song features top domestic session musicians such as guitarist Ham Chun-ho, drummer Kang Su-ho, and chorus Kim Hyun-ah, enhancing its musical completeness. Lyricist Jo Eun-hee, one of Korea’s top lyricists, participated in writing the lyrics, delivering poetic and emotional words like a piece of poetry.
Jeong Dong-won, who had a busy year with activities as his sub-character and K-pop idol JD1, including TV appearances and performances, is known to have prepared this comeback with great care to repay fans who have been waiting for his new song.
Along with the release, the music video was unveiled, featuring a story that fully captures the complex emotions that love brings, increasing the immersion in the song. The two previously released music video teasers heightened anticipation through visuals that evoke the lonely and empty atmosphere of autumn.
Jeong Dong-won has perfectly succeeded in transforming his image through activities as his sub-character, K-pop idol JD1. He successfully completed his Japanese debut activities with the release of the Japanese version single "Error 405 (ERROR 405)." Recently, he received much love for his addictive song and performance through the release of the remake digital single "Chaegimjyeo." Additionally, he is gaining attention as a hexagonal artist by actively participating in various variety shows, including ENA’s "Sigole Gan Doshi Z."
