The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will hold the 'Sports Development Meritorious Service Awards and Korea Sports Awards Ceremony' on the 12th at The Plaza Hotel in Seoul. This event honors the contributions of athletes and coaches who have elevated the status of sports in Korea. The recipients are selected after reviewing their achievements, scores based on evaluation criteria for each competition, and whether they meet international competition requirements.
This year, there are 44 honorees including 30 recipients of the Order of Sports Merit, six recipients of the Sports Medal, and eight recipients of the Korea Sports Awards. The highest grade, the Blue Dragon Order, will be awarded to Kim Junho and Kim Hyunwoo, along with shooter Kim Seojoon (Busan Metropolitan City Hall), archer Jang Hyejin (Korea Land and Housing Corporation), archery coach Ryu Sujeong of Keimyung University, and boccia coach Yoon Chuja of Seongnam City Disabled Sports Association.
Kim Junho won the gold medal in the men's sabre team event at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, and Kim Hyunwoo won gold in the Greco-Roman 66kg category at the 2012 London Olympics. Kim Seojoon achieved excellent results in multiple international competitions including a gold medal at the World Shooting Championships, and Jang Hyejin became a two-time gold medalist at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics. Coach Ryu led the women's national archery team to outstanding results alongside the athletes, and Coach Yoon has been nurturing boccia players since 2007, dominating major events such as the Paralympics.

The Tiger Order of Sports Merit will be awarded to six individuals: track athlete Jeon Minjae (Jeonbuk Disabled Sports Association), bowler Kwon Mingyu (Gyeonggi-do Disabled Bowling Association), wrestler Moon Euije (Samsung Life Insurance), roller skating coach Seong Nakjun (Yeosu City Hall), archer Lee Teukyoung, and shooter Lee Horim.
Kim Jinyoung, director of the Gyeongbuk Disabled Cycling Federation; bowler Shin Baekho (Jeonnam Disabled Bowling Association); wrestling coach Yang Hyunmo (Chungnam Provincial Office); bowler Yuk Geunbeom (Daejeon Disabled Bowling Association); modern pentathlete Hwang Woojin (Gwangju Metropolitan City Hall); and World Taekwondo Federation president Cho Jungwon will receive the Geosang Order of Sports Merit.
The White Horse Order of Sports Merit will be awarded to nine individuals including wushu athlete Kim Myungjin, Kim Jongseok, president of the Gwangju Bodybuilding Association, compound archer Seo Jeonghee (former Hite Jinro), finswimmer Jang Seonghyeok, and swimmer Choi Gyuwoong. Shooter Park Minjin (Donghae City Hall), bowler Shim Jinyong (Daejeon Disabled Bowling Association), and Seo Jeonghee, vice president of the Gyeongbuk Sports Council, will receive the Giraffe Order of Sports Merit.
Archers Kim Yeoncheol and Yang Semyung, judo coach of Gyeongnam Judo Association; Kim Dongsik, head of sports promotion at Chungbuk Disabled Sports Association; Choi Kyungyong, president of the Gyeongbuk Athletics Federation; and Han Tongjeong, head of public relations at the Korea Anti-Doping Agency will receive the Sports Medal.
The recipients of the Presidential Citation at the Korea Sports Awards are five individuals: archer Lim Sihyun (Korea National Sport University), international fencing referee Doo Hwajeong, principal Son Youngwook of Modong Middle School, Baek Namsik, president of the Korea Disabled Goalball Association, and teacher Heo Youngshin of Hansarang School.
Choi Wonyoung, secretary-general of the Danyang Sports Council; Kim Namgyu, father of swimmer Kim Umin; and Bang Yunjung, mother of modern pentathlete Jeon Woongtae, will receive the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Citation.
