"Biden Should Resign Before Term Ends to Make Harris the First Female President"

A close aide of Vice President Kamala Harris, the former Democratic presidential candidate, said on the 10th (local time) that "President Joe Biden should step down before the end of his term to give Harris the opportunity to become president," The Hill reported.

"Biden Should Resign Before Term Ends to Make Harris the First Female President" President Joe Biden of the United States and Vice President Kamala Harris.

According to The Hill, Jamal Simmons, who served as Harris's communications director, recently appeared on CNN's "State of the Union" and said, "Biden has been a remarkable president who has fulfilled many promises, but there is one more thing he can accomplish," adding, "He can resign from the presidency within 30 days and make Kamala Harris the president."

He further explained, "At a time when the Democratic Party needs to learn drama, transparency, and how to do what the public wants in politics, this can dominate the news." Simmons's remarks were presented as an answer to the question of what the Biden administration should prioritize during the remaining two months of its term.

According to the U.S. Constitution, in the event of the president's incapacity, such as death or resignation, or any situation where the president cannot perform duties, the vice president, who also serves as the President of the Senate, succeeds to the presidency.

After the broadcast, Simmons also posted on his social media, reiterating his call for Biden's resignation. On X (formerly Twitter), he wrote, "Biden should resign and make Harris the first female president," arguing, "That would reverse the tide against Trump and make it easier for the next woman to run in the presidential election."

American media outlets, including Politico, reported that Harris's camp has not responded at all to Simmons's remarks following their decisive defeat to President-elect Donald Trump in the election held on the 5th.
