Gwangju City and the Jeonnam Regional Post Office signed a business agreement on the 11th at the City Hall Business Room to support international express mail (EMS - Express Mail Service) for foreign international students.

This agreement was established to improve living conditions by reducing postal costs and enhancing convenience for foreign international students who frequently use international courier services through discounts on international express mail (EMS) fees.

The main content provides a 10% discount on international express mail (EMS, EMS Premium) fees when foreign international students enrolled in universities in the Gwangju area use post offices under the jurisdiction of the Jeonnam Regional Post Office (377 locations in Gwangju and Jeonnam).

To receive the discount, foreign registration cards indicating D-2 (study abroad) or D-4 (general training) must be presented at the time of mailing, and an additional 3% discount (excluding EMS Premium) is applied when applying through the post office app’s simple pre-registration.

Kim Dong-hyun, Director of Education and Youth Affairs, stated, “This is expected to contribute to creating a stable living environment for foreign international students,” and added, “We will continue to prepare various policies to help outstanding foreign talents settle in the region.”

Meanwhile, the number of foreign international students at universities in the Gwangju area was about 6,300 as of the end of April this year, increasing by 9% compared to the previous year, and continues to grow annually.
