Yangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kang Su-hyun) announced on the 11th that the '2024 Yangju City Healthy Running Competition' held at Okjeong Lake Park on the 10th was successfully concluded.

The event was attended by about 800 athletes from Yangju City and nearby areas who love marathon running, along with many guests including Mayor Kang Su-hyun, Sports Council Chairman Im Jae-geun, Vice President of Yangju City Athletics Federation Son Moon-hwan, and city council members, creating a great atmosphere.
The competition consisted of two courses: a 5km walking course starting from the outdoor stage at Okjeong Lake Park, passing through the walking trail and turning back at Chamsumul Bridge, and a 10km running course. Prize money and trophies were awarded to the top male and female winners of the 10km race.
For safety, about 80 personnel including Yangju Police Station officers and Yangju City Athletics Federation officials were assigned as road control and safety management staff, and an ambulance was on standby to ensure thorough prevention of accidents, resulting in a safe and accident-free event.
Participants evaluated the event as enjoyable due to the pre-performance and various food offerings, and expressed admiration for the scenic walking trails of the beautiful Okjeong Lake Park in Yangju City, stating their intention to participate again next year.
Mayor Kang Su-hyun, who participated in the 5km walking course with citizens, said, “I hope everyone who participated today enjoys the beautiful scenery of the walking trails at Okjeong Lake Park and completes the course safely without injury. We will hold the marathon competition again next year, so I encourage many to participate.”
