3rd Contest Awards: 18 Winners in Domestic and International Adult and Youth Categories

Busan Urban Corporation Arpina (President Kim Yong-hak) announced on the 11th that it held the awards ceremony for the ‘2024 Busan Travel Experience Essay Contest’ on the 6th.

Now in its third year, the ‘Busan Travel Experience Essay Contest’ aims to spread the culture of stay tourism in Busan and attract interest in Busan tourism from a diverse range of tourists, including youth and foreigners. Through a professional judging panel, 18 winning entries were finally selected.

The grand prize in the domestic adult category was awarded to ‘Finding the Path of Life on the Busan Galmaetgil,’ and the grand prize in the foreign adult category went to ‘The unforgettable 4D3N Busan travel.’ Winners received prizes worth a total of 2.5 million KRW, including 1.5 million KRW in national tourism gift certificates and a one-month stay voucher at Arpina.

The excellence award in the domestic adult category was given to ‘Summer Romance Enough with 300,000 KRW,’ and in the foreign adult category to ‘Busan Travel as Sweet as Hotteok and Lovely as Camellia Flowers,’ with prizes worth a total of 1.95 million KRW, including the Busan Urban Corporation President’s Award.

Additionally, the excellence award in the domestic youth category was awarded to ‘Busan, Two Nights with Mom,’ and in the foreign youth category to ‘The Child Is Forever: The Magic of Busan.’ Winners received prizes worth a total of 1.95 million KRW, including the Busan Ilbo President’s Award, national tourism gift certificates, and tablet PCs. This year’s contest also saw participation from foreigners of various nationalities such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, Taiwan, India, Hungary, and Peru, accounting for 13% of all submissions.

Furthermore, the encouragement award in the adult category went to ‘See You Again, Busan,’ and in the youth category to ‘If Sending Off the Last Memory, Then to Busan.’ Winners received prizes worth approximately 350,000 KRW, including national tourism gift certificates and free passes to representative Busan tourist attractions such as luge, surfing, observatories, and aquariums.

Yang Yeo-jin, the excellence award winner in the adult category who attended the awards ceremony, said, “Last summer, I enjoyed yachting and jazz bars in Gwangalli, receiving a great deal of romance from Busan. It is an honor to receive this precious award with those memories,” adding, “I hope others also feel the joy of Busan as I did.”

Park Su-bin, the excellence award winner in the youth category, said, “I was curious about what stories Busan would tell when I come again. It is an honor to create everyday memories with Busan Urban Corporation, which I had eagerly awaited, and I want to use the prize money meaningfully,” showing eloquence matching her writing skills.

Also attracting attention was Katelyn Kim Qu, the foreign youth excellence award winner, who said, “I am grateful to Busan Urban Corporation for the opportunity to win, and I hope all winners continue to break down barriers and engage in creative writing activities.”
