Former Acting Director of the 1st Term Immigration and Customs Enforcement Bureau
Donald Trump, the President-elect of the United States, announced on the 11th (local time) that he will nominate Tom Homan, who served as acting director of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) during the first Trump administration, as the 'Border Czar.'
On the same day, Trump announced through his social media platform Truth Social, "I am pleased to announce that Tom Homan, former ICE director and a strong advocate for border control, will join the Trump administration as the official overseeing our borders ('Border Czar')."

The fact that the 'Border Czar' was announced before other cabinet members shows that Trump is placing significant emphasis on immigration policy. This is the second public announcement of a senior administration appointment following the naming of Susie Wiles as White House Chief of Staff.
Regarding Homan, Trump said, "He will be responsible for border issues including the southern and northern borders, as well as maritime and aviation security. I have known Tom for a long time, and there is no one better suited to control and monitor the borders."
He added, "Tom Homan will also oversee the deportation of all illegal immigrants back to their countries of origin. Congratulations to Tom. There is no doubt he will do well in this long-awaited role."
Homan has expressed strong views on immigration and the issue of illegal immigrants among refugees.
Trump did not specify the exact duties of the 'Border Czar.' However, since he has pledged during the election campaign to reverse the immigration policies of the Joe Biden administration, it is expected that the position will oversee strong border control and crackdowns on illegal immigrants.
