German Literature and Publishing Experts Hold 'Han Kang Literature Forum'

Held by the Korean Cultural Center in Germany

A literary discussion commemorating the Nobel Prize in Literature awarded to author Han Kang will be held in Germany.

The Korean Cultural Center in Germany announced on the 11th that it will hold a literary discussion with invited experts on the theme of 'The World of Novelist Han Kang's Works' on the 15th (local time).

Renowned German literature and publishing experts will discuss works including The Vegetarian, published in Germany in August 2016, as well as The Boy Who Escaped, Your Cold Hand, White, and Greek Lessons. They will also hold a discussion on The Nocturnal Day, which is set to be published in Germany next month.

The event will be hosted by Katharina Borchardt, a presenter of cultural programs at the German public broadcaster S?dwestrundfunk (SWR) and a literary critic. Tom M?ller, who was responsible for the German edition publication of The Vegetarian, will introduce the translation and publication process, and Friederike Schilbach, editor at Aufbau Verlag, which holds exclusive publishing rights for Han Kang's works in Germany, will reveal future publication plans for Han Kang's works.

Yang Sang-geun, director of the Cultural Center, said, "We hope this event will lead to increased interest in other Korean authors who could become the 'second Han Kang' and that we will continue efforts to expand the base of K-literature."
