Strengthening Care Safety Nets through Customized Support
Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) announced on the 11th that it will improve the current system of the Eunbit SOL Care project and expand the maximum support amount for inpatient caregiving expenses per person to 700,000 KRW.
Eunbit SOL Care is a project first implemented by Seoul City in March last year. Based on accumulated data over one year and seven months, the district promoted this system improvement to strengthen practical support centered on the demand side. The current caregiving expense support standard causes a reversal of personal burden in certain ranges due to the tiered support criteria based on the number of caregiving days. To address this issue, the district removed the relevant standard.
Caregiving expenses are a representative non-reimbursable item, and reflecting the increased demand due to aging and rising labor costs, which have become a significant burden on household finances, the maximum support amount was adjusted from the previous 600,000 KRW to 700,000 KRW. The support target remains the same as before: single-person households with a median income of 100% or less who are hospitalized and use caregiving services through caregiving intermediary agencies. Support is provided for up to 7 days of caregiving expenses within a daily limit of 100,000 KRW, depending on the number of caregiving days used.
To apply, applicants can visit the local community service center after consultation or submit application documents by mail. Detailed information, including required documents, can be found in the announcement on the district office website.
Kim Mi-kyung, Mayor of Eunpyeong-gu, said, “As single-person households rapidly increase, various demands are emerging on the ground along with changes in family structure and population composition. We will do our best to strengthen policy responsiveness centered on demand and ensure that policies necessary for single-person households can be realized.”
