At the Pearl of Wolasan Forest
Dating and Connections as Precious as Pearls
Jinju City in Gyeongnam announced on the 11th that it held the 20th Jinju City Unmarried Men and Women Matchmaking Event, "Goodbye SOLO," from the 8th to the 9th, a 1-night 2-day event at Wolasan Forest in Jinju, to provide marriageable unmarried men and women with an opportunity to meet precious connections and to promote a positive perception of marriage.
For participant recruitment, applications were accepted from October 7 to 20, resulting in 124 men and 37 women applying. Through a public lottery, 20 men and 20 women were selected respectively.
Jinju City is hosting the Goodbye SOLO event to help single men and women find connections in the forest of Wolasan.
After a brief orientation, participants spent time building intimacy through activities such as garden dates in the Forest of Jinju, dynamic forest leisure sports, a garden concert enjoying romance under the autumn night stars, and yoga that allowed them to enjoy the vitality of daily life and the richness of the forest. The couple matching result of this event produced 34 pairs (each participant selected 5 dating partners).
In particular, this event utilized the accommodation facilities at Wolasan Forest in Jinju to provide an opportunity for an emotionally rich romantic date over 1 night and 2 days, and also held a time to support couples who got married through the matchmaking event for unmarried men and women held in the first half of the year.
The matchmaking event for unmarried men and women, which has been held since 2011, has achieved high participant satisfaction, a high couple matching rate, and has steadily produced married couples after the event, with 13 couples having gotten married. The city plans to continue promoting various events to attract participants' positive responses.
Cha Seok-ho, Deputy Mayor of Jinju City, said, "I thank the young men and women who participated in the event with a positive perception of marriage," adding, "We prepared this event to help with the concern that there are insufficient opportunities to meet precious connections. We will continue to implement various population policies for young people and take the lead in creating an atmosphere that encourages marriage."
