The volunteer group Sarangnanumi has been conducting various volunteer activities since 2005 in connection with the Public Health Center's home health care project, including 1:1 matching with home health care recipients for welfare checks and emotional support such as companionship, as well as providing resources like holiday food during Chuseok and kimchi for kimjang.
This year, on Parents' Day, May 8, they delivered water kimchi, and during Chuseok, they provided rice cakes and jeon (Korean pancakes) to elderly individuals living alone. In August, they participated in the National Forest Experience Center's "Nanum Forest Camp" workshop to strengthen unity among members and enhance their capabilities as volunteers, actively continuing their activities.
Song Jeong-ae, president of Sarangnanumi, said, "I am grateful for the precious opportunity to hold this meeting to strengthen the bonds among members," and added, "We will continue to work hard, carefully watching over every corner of the community to ensure no neighbors are left isolated."
Mayor Baek Kyung-hyun of Guri said, "I sincerely thank the members of Sarangnanumi who have devoted themselves to the mental and physical health of vulnerable elderly residents, and I hope they will continue this meaningful journey of spreading warmth among neighbors through steady volunteer activities."
