Daewoo E&C announced on the 11th that Chairman Jeong Won-joo was invited to the 'CIET2024 (Construction? Industry? Energy) Conference' held in Turkmenistan and visited the site from the 2nd to the 7th.


During this period, Chairman Jeong met with key officials including Baymurat Annamammetov, Deputy Prime Minister in charge of Construction, Electricity, and Production of Turkmenistan, the head of the Foreign Economic Bank, the mayor of Ashgabat, and the chairman of Turkmen Chemical Corporation. At this meeting, Chairman Jeong discussed the promotion of the 1 trillion KRW mineral fertilizer plant project, for which Daewoo E&C was selected as the successful bidder last October, and ways to expand local business.


The mineral fertilizer plant project, for which Daewoo E&C was selected as the successful bidder, is currently preparing contract documents with the ordering party, and the contract is expected to be signed once financing plans are finalized.


At the meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Baymurat, Chairman Jeong said, "Thank you for selecting Daewoo E&C last month as the successful bidder for the Turkmenabat mineral fertilizer plant construction project. We hope to contribute to economic development through continuous investment expansion in Turkmenistan, which has abundant potential in energy resources and the construction industry."


The mineral fertilizer plant project, for which Daewoo E&C was selected as the successful bidder, is located in Turkmenabat, the second largest city of Turkmenistan, about 450 km east of the capital Ashgabat. The project involves constructing facilities to produce 350,000 tons of phosphate fertilizer and 100,000 tons of ammonium sulfate annually, along with auxiliary facilities.


Through this project, Daewoo E&C will enter the new market of Central Asia, Turkmenistan, and seek additional business opportunities such as power generation, industrial complexes, and new town development.


Rahim Gandimov, mayor of Ashgabat, requested during his meeting with Daewoo E&C Chairman Jeong Won-joo, "We hope for Daewoo E&C's support and cooperation in the planning and development of the Ashgabat new town promoted by the Turkmenistan government, especially with your expertise and experience in smart cities, new town development, and high-rise buildings." In response, Chairman Jeong replied, "We will spare no effort to provide full support so that Daewoo E&C’s abundant experience and technological capabilities in related fields can be part of the new town development process."
