This year, the number of female executives in the top 100 companies reached a record high of 463. One in five female executives belongs to Samsung Electronics. Amorepacific had the highest proportion of female executives among the top 100 companies, at 28%.

According to the "2024 Survey on Female Executives in the Top 100 Domestic Companies" released on the 11th by Unico Search, a global headhunting specialist firm, the number of female executives in the top 100 companies this year is 463, setting an all-time high. This is an increase of 24 (5.5%) from last year (439). The growth rate of female executives was about six times higher than the overall executive growth rate of 0.8% (7,345 → 7,404) in the top 100 companies this year.


The number has increased by more than 400 compared to 20 years ago in 2004 (13). It has also risen by more than 300 compared to 10 years ago in 2014 (106).


The proportion of female executives among all executives remained at 6.3%, the same as last year. It surpassed 6% for the first time last year, following 3.5% in 2019, 4.1% in 2020, 4.8% in 2021, and 5.6% in 2022.


The number of companies producing female executives is increasing. This year, 74 companies among the top 100 had female executives, up by 2 from last year (72), marking a record high.


By company, Samsung Electronics had the highest number of female executives at 81. This was followed by CJ CheilJedang and Naver with 26 each, Hyundai Motor with 20, Amorepacific with 16, and Lotte Shopping and LG Electronics with 14 each.


Among companies with 10 or more female executives, Amorepacific had the highest proportion at 28.1%. Of the total 57 executives, 16 were women. CJ CheilJedang (23.4%), Naver (19.7%), Lotte Shopping (15.9%), KT (12.8%), and LG Chem (10.4%) also had female executive proportions exceeding 10% this year.


There are a total of 10 female inside directors among the top 100 companies. Among them, four are CEOs: Lee Boo-jin, President of Hotel Shilla; Lee Jung-ae, President of LG Household & Health Care; Choi Soo-yeon, President of Naver; and Choi Yeon-hye, President of Korea Gas Corporation.


Kim Hye-yang, CEO of Unico Search, said, "The atmosphere of valuing female talent in large corporations continues," adding, "The trend of actively appointing female executives in next year's executive personnel changes is expected to remain strong."
