On the 10th (local time), at the DP World Tour (formerly European Tour) Qualifying (Q) School final round 3 held at the Infinitum Golf Course (par 71) in Tarragona, Spain, he shot 12-under-par 59. He showcased perfect play with 12 birdies and no bogeys. This is only the second time a score under 60 has been recorded at the DP World Tour Q School. It has been 10 years since John Huh (USA) shot 58 in 2014. At that time, Huh scored 12-under-par on a par 70 course. On the PGA Tour and Korn Ferry (second-tier) Tour, a score of 59 has been recorded three times.
Van Pin started strong with consecutive birdies on holes 1 and 2 and another birdie on hole 4. He laid the foundation for the great record with six consecutive birdies from holes 9 to 14, and added three more consecutive birdies from holes 16 to 18 to complete the '59'. He shot 28 on the back nine holes. He exclaimed, "This is the first time I've shot 59. Everything went well today. It was really great."
Van Pin is an unknown player who had no opportunity to make a name for himself. Since turning professional in 2018, he played only one season on the DP World Tour second-tier tour, spending most of his time on the third-tier tour. In the DP World Tour Q School, which is played over 6 rounds and 108 holes, Van Pin shot 74 and 73 in rounds 1 and 2, ranking tied for 149th and facing the risk of early elimination. However, thanks to the 59 on this day, he rose to tied 22nd. The DP World Tour Q School eliminates half of the 156 players after 72 holes and determines rankings over a 36-hole competition. Van Pin is now likely to advance to the final 36 holes.
