Dr. Oh Eun-young, a psychiatrist, confessed her feelings when she was given a terminal diagnosis of colon cancer 15 years ago.
On the 10th, Dr. Oh gave a lecture titled "When the World Does Not Go My Way" on MBC's entertainment program 'Heartstrings Lecturers.' After listening to the audience's realistic concerns such as marriage, dieting, and studies, she gave advice and then revealed her past battle with colon cancer.
Dr. Oh said, "My profession is a doctor, and I take care of other people's health. But in 2008, I was diagnosed with colon cancer," adding, "At that time, it felt like the sky was falling." She continued, "There are many bad people, but they don't get sick," expressing her frustration. She also stated, "I realized that the entire process of finishing life and leaving does not go as I wish."

She said, "During that process, I tried very hard to recover my mind. The despair that humans feel in such situations is not wrong," emphasizing, "It is not because I am weak, but a natural emotion felt because we are human." Dr. Oh added, "At times like this, it is important to talk about your current state and communicate with others."
Oh Eun-young said, "It really breaks my heart when young people say they are desperate and have given up," adding, "Not only the young people themselves but also the older generation should come together, join hands, and work to help them live more comfortably in this world." She declared, "I will also do my best in my position," receiving applause from the audience.
Previously, Dr. Oh revealed that she was given a three-month terminal prognosis in 2008 due to gallbladder tumors and colon cancer. On KBS2's 'Joy of Conversation 3' in 2021, she said, "The doctor said that if colon cancer had metastasized, I could live for three months. Fortunately, the gallbladder tumor seemed malignant but was not, and the colon cancer was in its early stage, so it was completely removed." After recovering her health, Dr. Oh has been actively working as a 'national mentor' to this day.
