On the 8th, LG Electronics signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) at LG Science Park in Magok, Seoul, for "Digital Management Innovation in the Railway Sector Based on Eum 5G."

Eum 5G is a customized 5G network provided for specific spaces. It uses dedicated frequencies rather than commercial networks, offering fast data transmission speeds as well as excellent safety and security.

Through this agreement, the two companies will carry out a demonstration project of the Eum 5G solution at three railway facilities, starting with Seoul Station, followed by Siheung Train Depot and Guro Substation. This is the first application of Eum 5G to domestic railway facilities. In the long term, they plan to create a three-dimensional virtual world identical to actual railway facilities to collect data and build a "digital twin" that integrates control of the real world based on this data.

Han Moon-hee, President of KORAIL, said, "Railway stations and trains will become arenas for new technologies, and we will strengthen collaboration with specialized companies to realize digital innovation in daily life that passengers can see and feel directly, creating a new standard model for the railway industry."

Jo Joo-wan, CEO of LG Electronics, said, "LG Electronics' B2B (business-to-business) business will continue to expand from single product supply to a high value-added business that adds various solutions needed within the spaces where customers stay."
