SK On Establishes 'Job Expertise College' to Foster In-House Experts

Lee Seok-hee CEO "We Will Build an In-house University"

SK On is establishing a 'Job Specialty College' within its in-house education platform 'SK On Academy (SKONA)'. The company aims to cultivate in-house experts through systematic advanced training.

On the 8th, SK On announced on the 10th that it held an orientation for the Job Specialty College at Grand Seoul in Jongno-gu, Seoul. Among the 124 members selected as in-house instructors, 40 attended the first session to learn effective lecture methods from professional instructors.

SK On Academy was launched in January last year to provide standardized courses such as basic battery knowledge. It currently operates over 300 online and offline programs covering battery processes, product explanations, future industry trends, as well as the company’s strategies and organization.

The newly established Job Specialty College is an advanced course of the basic competency training offered by SK On Academy. The job fields are divided by area and further segmented into three levels?Basic, Advanced, and Expert?according to proficiency.

A distinctive feature is that SK On members themselves serve as instructors rather than external personnel. Through this, the company plans to capitalize on employees’ expertise and systematically nurture in-house experts.

This year, the program will start with four job fields: manufacturing technology, quality, purchasing, and digital technology, and plans to expand to areas such as research and development, finance, and sales.

SK On intends to further systematize the curriculum and strengthen academic management to the level of an in-house university by implementing competency certification systems and credit systems centered on mandatory courses. Measures such as introducing full-time instructor positions are also being considered to secure the professionalism of in-house instructors.

Lee Seok-hee, CEO of SK On, said, "We will not stop investing in people and research for future growth," adding, "We will build SK On’s in-house university to develop our employees into top experts."
