Seongdong-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jeong Won-oh) announced that the ‘Chakchak Seongdong Living Civil Complaint Mobile Unit’ will focus on supporting the installation of cold-proof materials such as window air caps and door draft stoppers to ensure a warm winter for vulnerable households.
The district operates the ‘Chakchak Seongdong Living Civil Complaint Mobile Unit,’ a home repair service that visits vulnerable residential groups including basic livelihood security recipients, lower-income households, persons with disabilities, national merit recipients, and emergency support targets, as a community-based project to enhance residents’ daily convenience.
The ‘Chakchak Seongdong Living Civil Complaint Mobile Unit’ provides simple home repair services such as installing and repairing insect screens, replacing lights, and installing gas timers up to three times a year, with material costs not exceeding 180,000 KRW per household per visit.
In addition, to prepare for the cold winter season, the unit will intensively support the installation of cold-proof materials such as window air caps and door draft stoppers until the end of November. Residents who need small-scale home repair services including cold-proof material installation can apply at their local community service centers, and within 2 to 3 days from the application date, the ‘Chakchak Seongdong Living Civil Complaint Mobile Unit’ will visit the household to provide convenient home repair services.
Since its launch in 2018, now in its sixth year, the ‘Chakchak Seongdong Living Civil Complaint Mobile Unit’ has provided 3,910 services to a total of 2,375 households up to last year, and this year has resolved a total of 542 daily inconveniences including home repairs for 389 households.
The district plans to continue actively operating the ‘Chakchak Seongdong Living Civil Complaint Mobile Unit’ to meet the demand for home repair services and provide residents with a safe and comfortable living environment.
Mayor Jeong Won-oh stated, “Through the focused support of cold-proof material installation by the ‘Chakchak Seongdong Living Civil Complaint Mobile Unit,’ we believe residents will be able to spend a warm and safe winter despite the cold wave,” adding, “We will continue to make efforts to create a pleasant residential environment for residents and do our best to implement community-based policies that carefully address everyday inconveniences.”
