From the afternoon of the 9th, approximately 60,000 people are expected to gather in large-scale rallies organized by the two major labor unions in the Gwanghwamun and Yeouido areas of Seoul, along with a rally by the Democratic Party calling for a special investigation into First Lady Kim Geon-hee, causing anticipated traffic congestion.
The Federation of Korean Trade Unions (FKTU) plans to hold a nationwide workers' rally from 2 p.m. around Yeouidaero, while the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) will hold a nationwide workers' rally from 4 p.m. around Sejong-daero and on the stage in front of Sungnyemun. The Democratic Party will hold the "2nd National Action Day to Condemn Kim Geon-hee and Yoon Seok-yeol and Demand a Special Investigation" from 6:30 p.m. in the section between Sungnyemun and Exit 8 of City Hall Station.
Additionally, from the morning, stages for the rallies will be set up on Sejong-daero, Tongil-ro, Eulji-ro, Sajik-ro, and Yeouidaero, where the rallies will take place. In the afternoon, a large-scale rally is scheduled at Sungnyemun and other locations, followed by a march towards Sejong-daero. Traffic congestion is expected.
The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency will operate reversible lanes on the opposite sides of the rally locations such as Sejong-daero, Sajik-ro, and Yeouidaero. From 5 p.m., when the march begins, Seosomun-ro will be one-way from Taepyeong-ro towards Uiju-ro, and Eulji-ro will be one-way from Sogong-ro towards Euljiro 2-ga.
About 220 traffic police officers will be deployed around the rally sites to manage traffic flow and vehicle detours. The passage of intercity buses using Sejong-daero and Yeouidaero will be maintained.
A police official urged, "When traveling in the downtown area, please use public transportation such as the subway as much as possible, and drivers who must use vehicles should check real-time traffic information in advance."
