Seosan City in South Chungcheong Province is mobilizing all available resources as the citywide water outage that began on the 8th is expected to continue until the morning of the 9th.

On the 8th, the city held an emergency response meeting for the water outage in the main conference room at city hall, attended by Mayor Lee Wan-seop, Vice Mayor Hong Soon-gwang, and about 60 heads of relevant departments.

The participants shared updates on measures taken by each department in response to the water outage on the 8th, discussed response plans until the outage is resolved, and are making every effort to address the situation.

The city has implemented emergency duty for all departments, assigning three staff members per department to focus administrative efforts on the response until the outage ends.

In addition, to minimize inconvenience for citizens, the city has secured 31 water supply vehicles, including 25 water trucks and 6 fire trucks, and completed preparations for operating six emergency water supply facilities.

Emergency water will be supplied primarily to apartment complexes in urgent need via vehicles until around 11 p.m., and staff will be on board to directly inform citizens about the outage.

The city also plans to operate water supply vehicles from 6 a.m. on the 9th until the outage is resolved.

On the 8th, 65,000 bottles of drinking water were distributed to administrative welfare centers in each town and district for citizens, and an additional 28,000 bottles are planned for supply.

Furthermore, the city will closely communicate with Korea Water Resources Corporation to provide real-time updates on the expected restoration time and will also provide information via social networking services.

Mayor Lee Wan-seop stated, "Seosan City will mobilize all personnel and resources at its disposal to minimize damage to citizens," and added, "We ask for the understanding and cooperation of citizens inconvenienced by this unexpected situation until the outage is resolved."

Meanwhile, this water outage was caused by the aging of a valve at the Hongseong Booster Station of the Boryeong Regional Waterworks located in Hongseong County, and Korea Water Resources Corporation is making every effort to restore the system.
